A few years ago, I got to read Erkki Lampén’s book ”Four trips across Finland.” The topic of the book about self-challenging hiking over long distances in our beautiful nature remained in my mind until I went on my first trip by paddling across Finland in 2016.
Border Ski Finland 2023 is a winter hike designed and implemented by Jukka Saukko, a solo hiker, skiing and pulling a sledge.
The starting point of the trip is located in Virolahti, and the route mainly follows the back boundary of the border zone of Finland’s eastern border all the way to Nuorgam for a distance of just over 1,700 km and for a period of 65 days.
The ski hike starts in early January and ends in March 2023.
