Hi there,

It’s the first day of November and I’m sitting in a hotel room on my work trip and thinking that I have only a couple of months time left to prepare for another journey across Finland. This time skiing.

It’s been 6 and a half years since the last trip, Paddling Across Finland 2016, and that time has gone by frighteningly fast. Even though this period has included a lot of life lived, accumulated experiences and memories, I can only say that the ”pace” has continued to accelerate in my life. This I say at the age of forty-…hmmm, -three! So, I had to try to develop a handbrake-type solution for myself to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and this type of long hike effectively restores a person to a more natural rhythm and, above all, puts him on the verge of fundamental things, such as; warm food,  dry socks, hard work to achieve your goal and falling asleep when you are exhausted.

I have been thinking about publishing photo reports from my hike at appropriate intervals and I hope that I can convey to you the moods of my wintery (hopefully snowy) Finland from my long trip Border Ski Finland 2023.

The pictures above are taken from a ski touring in national park of Urho Kalevi Kekkonen with Antti Kamppila in late winter 2022.
